Comparison Between the Combination Therapy in Terms of Therapeutic Effectiveness and Anti-Microbial Efficacy in Extensive Drug-Resistant Acinetobacter Baumannii Infections

Objective: To compare the clinical and antimicrobial efficacy of a triple-antibiotic regimen (Colistin, Cefoperazone/Sulbactam, Tigecycline) with double-antibiotic (Colistin Minocycline) for treating drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii infections in critically ill patients.Study Design: A comparative cross-sectional study design.Place Duration Study: The was conducted at Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Pakistan Institute Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, from April 2022 to October 2022.Materials Methods: total 38 patients aged 18-70 years admitted Sciences, Islamabad gave consent participate study. Any patient having culture-proven polymicrobial infection excluded. 20 were allocated Group (triple-antibiotic regimen) 18 B (double-antibiotic regimen). Vital statistics recorded daily, while laboratory-based biochemical markers (leucocyte count, CRP, lactate, procalcitonin) every 48 hours ten days. Antimicrobial assessed by culture analysis on 10th day.Results: There B. 32 Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP), six bloodstream infection. No significant difference vitals lab found between two groups. only exception serum lactate levels, which significantly higher (34.03 + 28.37 mg/dL), compared (16.11 15.63 mg/dL; p = 0.024). therapy also have improved terms positive-culture results (n=4, 20%) (n=10, 55.6%; 0.023).Conclusion: had better than baumannii-related infections.
